Highbury Design's principal and co-founder, Gary Phillips BA(Hons) Dip Arch(Birm) RIBA MAPM MaPS can be contacted at any time to discuss and assist with client queries in respect to a site or building's potential, with the aim of making ideas and dreams a reality.

 

Gary trained at the Birmingham School of Architecture, and has over twenty years experience in the construction industry. Having studied in America and travelled widely, most recently reviewing Norwegian timber frame building practices at first hand for greening and off site manufacturing purposes, Gary is able to offer designs to meet every requirement in today's demanding world. Working previously as a partner in a large architectural practice running projects in excess of £120million at any time, as well as acting as Director of Architecture for a large Plc, he can back up his education with first hand experience. Gary's track record includes; large estate regeneration projects both for private and social landlords, new individual housing developments in excess of 100 no dwelling units, listed building conversions, sheltered housing and nursing homes, all types of healthcare from doctors practices to operating theatres, commercial and retail buildings including shopping centres and distribution centres; as well as specialised areas such as custodial work, community architecture, and church work. Gary can also undertake SAP energy assessments for any type of housing.

 

Successes have included RIBA featured schemes such as a mother and baby unit in York for the Home Office which was the first to win a Building Research Establishment Eco Homes award, as well as acting as project architect for individual schemes up to £43million for campus type developments. He has also been involved in setting up some of the first partnering schemes using the PPC2000 contract for HM Prison Service, as well as completing one of the first NEC partnered NHS Procure 21 healthcare projects in the country. Gary regularly organises client seminars and training initiatives with a view to improving both layman, and fellow professionals understanding of the construction industry, raising awareness and quality.
